“Don’t be afraid of hard work. Nothing worthwhile comes easily. Don’t let others discourage you or tell you that you can’t do it. In my day I was told women didn’t go into chemistry. I saw no reason why we couldn’t.”
Gertrude Elion (Nobel Prize-winning biochemist)
“My mother always taught us that if people don’t agree with you, the important thing is to listen to them. But if you’ve listened to them carefully and you still think that you’re right, then you must have the courage of your convictions.”
“Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.”
George Washington Carver
“Besides learning to see, there is another art to be learned – not to see what is not.”
“We especially need imagination in science. Question everything.”
“If you don’t dare to try and chase your dreams, you’ll rob yourself the joy of doing it.
Don’t just dream it.”
“I have not failed 10,000 times. I have not failed once. I have succeeded in proving that those 10,000 ways will not work. When I have eliminated the ways that will not work, I will find the way that will work.”
